Before and After-Option House

OPTION HOUSE PROJECT

We, at Paint My World,  feel very privileged to have had a part in the remarkable restoration of

The Option House in Bradford, PA.  The Option House was built in 1902 and was originally used by oil producers to trade stock options.  Over the years, it had become very run down , to say the least.  When it was purchased by Sam Sylvester in April, 2008, it was in a very sad state of shambles.  Repairs and clean up began immediately. Truckloads of debris were removed from the upper floor apartments. To see it now in all of it's glory is breathtaking enough, but to have had the opportunity to see it from the start of all of the hard work makes it's elegance even more amazing!  If you are ever able to stop in, we think you will agree, and it isn't just the atmosphere that is so awesome, but the food, also!

BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURES

About the Images

As the transformations were taking place, there were many decisions to be made regarding the wall treatments throughout.  The Peacock Lounge on the second floor, which is a very long and narrow area with archways sectioning it off into seven smaller rooms within one very large room,  presented somewhat of a challenge.  It was decided that Paint My World would apply Faux Effects Lusterstone to the walls above the chair rail, and each of the seven areas would have a different color applied.  The colors were chosen based on those found in a peacock feather.  It was learned from old newspaper articles that were given to Sam, that this concept was originally used in the Peacock Lounge many, many years ago.  The luster of the product used created great elegance.  Peacock feathers were then embossed, tone on tone, on the walls.  Copper tiles were installed on the ceiling, a different pattern in each of the seven areas, and a copper base coat and glaze were then applied to the wall area above the picture rail.  The chair rail, wood panels below, and archways were painted in an off white and light tan.  So, with the areas above and below the multiple colors of Lusterstone finishes being uniform throughout, it pulled all seven areas together.

Scenes from "Little Chicago" to be filmed at Option House.

Crew from "Little Chicago," a gangster flick which takes place in the 1920's and 30's during prohibition, has been filming scenes at the Option House and other local areas.  The Option House will be used for the speakeasy scenes. Trailers can be viewed at the films' website. www.littlechicagothemovie.com
